Glen M. "Calhoun" Davisson, age 83, of Orrville OH, died Sunday, January 19, 2020, at Accord Care Community in Orrville, following a period of declining health.
Glen was born on September 17, 1936, in Minnora, West Virginia, to the late Lloyd and Delpha (Miller) Davisson and married Mary Lou Cruikshank on March 11, 1956, in Charleston, WV. Mary Lou died on November 7, 2007.
He graduated from Calhoun County (WV) High School in 1955, moved to Orrville and worked as a Welding Department Supervisor for Orrville Products for 39 years, retiring in 1995.
Glen enjoyed playing football and basketball in high school and played in the industrial leagues when he moved to Orrville. He was an avid Orrville sports fan and Booster Club member and he enjoyed gardening and dog racing. Glen worked the chain gang for football games for 27 years and then ran the score clock in later years. He ran Glen and Bill's Landscaping business with Bill Sipes, installing most of the lawns in the Lynn Drive development. He was inducted into the Wayne County Speedway Hall of Fame in 2006 after 30 years of diligent service maintaining the track and serving as a director.
Surviving are four children, Michael (Becky) Davisson of Collegeville, PA, Patti Zimmerly of Orrville, Lee Ann (Scott) Feltis of Dalton, and Douglas (Diane) Davisson of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren, Andrew (Erin) Davisson, Matthew (Leanne) Davisson, Benjamin (fiance' Siobhan) Davisson, Crystal Zimmerly, Stacy Zimmerly, Shawn Feltis, Kyle Feltis, Cory Davisson, Danielle Davisson, Laura Davisson, and Curtis Davisson.
Also great grandchildren, Gavin, Haylee, Jayden, Emmy, Casey, Jack, Caroline, and Harper; sister, Iva (Paul) Brannon of AZ; sisters-in-law, Wanda Davisson of Akron and Kathryn Cruikshank of WV; brother-in-law, Robert (Sharon) Cruikshank of AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Jennings and Melvin Davisson.
Friends may call on Sunday, January 26, 2020, at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 27, 2020, in the chapel at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, with Pastor John Pape officiating.
