Megan Jones, Calhoun County Middle-High School Senior, recently signed with Glenville State College to play softball beginning in the fall of 2020. Megan is the daughter of Greg and Melissa Jones of Brohard, WV.
While in high school, Megan has been on the Honor Roll and a member of the Society of High School Scholars. She has served previously as class president and is currently serving as the senior class historian. She has participated in the MOU program through Minnie Hamilton Hospital, played basketball and softball and went to HOSA camp.
Megan said, "I have always been told that I could never play a college sport because I live in Calhoun, but I wanted to prove everyone wrong. I have worked myself extra hard for this opportunity, and I am very thankful that my hard work and dedication has paid off."
Megan continued, "Thank you to my parents for allowing me to play. Thank you, Charlie Starcher, for pushing me to love the sport. And thank you, Amanda Stoddard, for never letting me give up, all the extra hours you have put into me to make a better athlete. To everyone out there, nothing is impossible if you try hard enough."
Megan plans on attending Glenville State College in the fall with a major in Criminal Justice and a minor in Field Sciences. She plans to play softball, for which she has already accepted a scholarship.
Her 5-year plan is to get through college, further her degree, and to eventually become a homicide detective. Calhoun County Middle High School wishes Megan the best of luck in the future and all she does.
