55 EMERGENCY VEHICLES ESCORTED FALLEN FIREMAN HORWICH TO FINAL RESTING PLACE

(01/19/2020)

Emergency responders from across the state came to Roane County Saturday to pay their final respects to a fallen firefighter.

Hundreds came to Roane County High School to honor Mark Horwich, who died Jan. 11 when a fire truck he was driving crashed while responding to a fire.

Horwich was a member of both the Clover and Spencer-Roane volunteer fire departments.

Members from both departments, as well as many others, were on hand to honor a man they say had a heart of gold and unforgettable smile.

Following the service 55 emergency vehicles adorned in black ribbons escorted Horwich out rural Rt. 36 to his final resting place.

Calhoun's fire departments attended the funeral and the Arnoldsburg VFD covered the county during the ceremony, going to Spencer.
