OAK AND DEER MANAGEMENT - TOPIC OF WVU EXTENSION DINNER MEETING

There will be a Progressive Farmer Winter Dinner Meeting on Tuesday, January 21st, at the Roane-Jackson Vo-Tech Center in Leroy, WV. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. with a meal provided by local sponsors—Farm Credit and the Little Kanawha Conservation District.

Tuesday's speaker will be Dr. Dave McGill; Professor and Extension Specialist for West Virginia University Davis College & Sheldon Owen; Wildlife Extension Specialist for West Virginia University Extension Service.

This presentation will feature the diversity and importance of oak species and the challenges in growing new forests of these valuable trees. The presentation on Deer Management will cover current population trends, impacts, and habitat management for deer. We will even discuss management practices to reduce damage caused by deer.
