Sara Jane "Janie" DeMarino of Spencer

Sara Jane "Janie" DeMarino of Spencer, West Virginia, went to heaven on December 6, 2019 after a short illness.

Janie was born in Gassaway, WV, on June 28, 1943, the daughter of the late Harold Clair and Merle Wilson Dillon.

Janie was predeceased by her loving husband Dan DeMarino, and her cousin Wilson Currey.

  She is survived by her missing son John DeMarino of Spencer WV, her "Priceless" grandchildren, Adreanna and John, Jr. DeMarino of Richmond VA, her cousins Julia Currey Yao of WV, Ralph Currey and his three children from FL, her former daughter-in-law Karen DeMarino, and her beloved pup Izzie.  Janie was showered with love and will be dearly missed by her close group of friends who were with her every step of the way. Additional survivors include in-laws, nieces, nephews, and co-workers.

Janie loved spending quality time with her grandchildren, Adreanna and John Jr., and never missed an opportunity to celebrate their milestones, text humorous emoticons, and share words of wisdom and encouragement. They truly were the joy in her life and she left them with a lifetime of happy memories to cherish.

  Janie graduated from Buckannon High School in 1961 and soon after met and married Dan DeMarino. In 1967 they had son John and continued their happy life, together. In 1972, Janie started working as an aid in the Roane County school system and was promoted in 1976 as secretary of Spencer Elementary Middle School where she continued her successful career. Before retiring in 2002, Jane worked as secretary for the Roane County Board of Education as the Food Service Secretary for seven schools.

Janie will always be remembered as a faithful friend, devoted wife, loving mother and encouraging grandmother.

A memorial service will be held at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, WV on Saturday, December 14th, 2019. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. and service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Larry Greathouse officiating. Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer, WV.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Roane County Animal Shelter.
