(02/27/2003)
Spring fire season begins Saturday and continues through May 31st. Outdoor burning will be allowed between 4 p.m. and 7 a.m. during the three-month season.

Matt Dillon, an assistant state forester, says the Division of Forestry hopes this season will be as calm as last season.

Last year, 994 fires burned about 10,000 acres across West Virginia, compared to 96.000 acres in 2001.
