A Celebration of Life, honoring Larry McCallister, will be held on Sunday, October 13, at 3:30 p.m. at the Nemesis Shrine Center at 244 Watson Road, Parkersburg, WV with Pastor Joe Law and Jason Snyder officiating.

Former Calhoun resident and Calhoun Commissioner Larry McCallister, 75, of Washington WV has died after a sudden illness.

McCallister had been a long time employee of Minnie Hamilton Health System and was a commissioner for 12 years.

He was known for his fine art work, including numbers of drawings of the Calhoun landscape.

McCallister completed his book "West Virginia Courthouses," which includes his pen and ink drawings of all 55 county courthouses in 2018.

A native of Calhoun, he resided with his wife, Cheryl, in Washington, WV. They have two daughters, Stacy Crook and Kari Lowe. He graduated from Calhoun High in 1961, and Glenville State College with a degree in business and art.

Jim McCracken wrote, "Several years ago I met Larry McCallister. We spent two weeks at Fort Dix, New Jersey. Never in my life have I ever been entertained by a person in my life. Larry would tell stories that left you laughing. Over the years I saw Larry quite often and he always knew me by name always smiling and always willing to help."
