WOMAN SHOT IN CHARLESTON - Charleston police officers are investigating a shooting at the Orchard Manor apartment complex.

The shooting happened on Lippert Street around 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Investigators said a fight broke out and a woman was shot in the leg.

The victim was taken to the hospital, but is expected to survive.

No arrests have been made at this time.

MAN SHOT IN STOMACH - Kanawha County deputies are on the scene of a shooting in Sissonville Monday night.

Deputies said a man showed up on Sisson Lane with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

The man was taken to the hospital. His name and condition have not been released.

MAN SHOT IN DOMESTIC DISPUTE - A man is dead after a shooting on Friday in Preston County, according to the Preston County Sheriff’s office.

Officials said that the Preston County Sheriff’s Department and the West Virginia State Police were alerted to Woolen Mills Road near Albright on reports of a shooting from a domestic altercation.

William Elwood French III, 43, was pronounced dead as a result of the shooting, according to the Sheriff’s office.

Officials said that the shooting is still under investigation and no charges have been filed. The shooting could have been self-defense, according to the Sheriff’s office.

The Preston County Prosecuting Attorney will take over the case once the investigation has been completed.

CLARKSBURG STABBING - One person has been transported to UHC after a stabbing incident on Adams Avenue near Pizza Hut in Clarksburg.

According to Harrison County 911 Officials, officers were alerted to a report of a stabbing at approximately 6:24 p.m. on Monday evening.

There is no word on the extent of the injures of the person transported.

Officials said that Clarksburg Police, Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, Clarksburg Fire Department and Harrison County EMS were on scene.

MAN PULLS KNIFE ON MEDICS - A man was arrested Saturday night after Kanawha County deputies said he tried to stab medics who were taking him to the hospital.

Richard William Thornton, 27, of Parkersburg is charged with two counts of attempted murder after he is accused of chasing medics and trying to stab them, according to Kanawha County deputies.

Around 8 p.m. Saturday night, dispatchers received a call that a there was a man on the side of Elk River Road in Elkview acting like he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. When deputies arrived they saw Thornton who said he had been using methamphetamine and bath salts.

An ambulance from from the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority was called in to assist deputies and medics said it was necessary to take Thornton to the hospital for treatment.

As the ambulance was making its way to Charleston, Thornton became uncooperative and repeatedly tried to release himself from the straps that secured him to the cot.

Deputies said while the ambulance was on I-79, Thornton took a knife out of his pocket and tried to stab the medic who was treating him.

After realizing what was happening, driver of the ambulance abruptly stop and both medics were able to exit the ambulance, but were chased by Thornton.

Deputies said one of the medics was able to run up a hill to safety, but Thornton continued to chase the other medic on I-79.

According to deputies, Thornton eventually stopped chasing the medic and was taken into custody at a convenience store near the I-79 Elkview exit.

Thornton was taken to the hospital for treatment. After he was released he was taken to South Central Regional Jail where he is being held on $100,000 bond.
