Phyllis June Jett left her earthly body on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family.
Although our hearts are broken, we know her body is whole and take comfort in the thought of her being greeted at the gates of heaven by many familiar faces, especially her late and loving husband, Larry Roger Jett.
June was born on November 15, 1940 to the late Gerald and Thelma Drake. She is survived by her children, Don (Mary) Jett, David (Donna Stevens) Jett, Sandy (Tim) Wilson, Tim (Cynthia) Jett. June leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren that she loved so very much. After she raised her family, she and Larry started a second family by taking in foster children, who they loved just like their own.
She is also survived by her siblings Carol Lynch, Pete Drake, Lana Rogers, Gary Drake, Larry Drake, Jerry Drake, and Randy Drake. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Janice Hayes and her grandson Travis Jett.
There are many things to be said about the life that June Jett lived, but above all she will be remembered for living with a love that seemed to have no end. June was an avid gardener and she enjoyed canning. In the spring and summer, her garden and flowers were unmatched. If you were lucky enough to know June, you know that life was a little bit sweeter just because she was around.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, September 20, at 1:00 p.m. at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Rick Perrine officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service. June will be laid to rest beside her husband at the J. Herbert Smith, Sr. Family Cemetery at Looneyville.
