WATCH FOR RISING STREAMS AND FLASH FLOODING

1 AM SUNDAY - Thunderstorms and rain is sweeping across the region
tonight, likely dropping enough rainfall to cause flooding. The National
Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Calhoun and all
surrounding counties until 6 a.m. Sunday.
The National Weather Service said 1/4" of rain would put local streams out
of their banks. Some creeks were out of banks ay this hour. The NSW said the LK River will crest below flood stage during Sunday morning.
The Grantsville VFD and Calhoun EMS are on alert after a laboring week
dealing with the ice storm, power and telephone outages. The Arnoldsburg
and Upper West Fork VFD's are on standby.
The Little Kanawha is about at flood stage at Glenville, and is rising
and has closed north side of Grantsville and Rt. 7 (Russett Road). Water is across Rt. 5 at Cain's Riffle.
Rt. 16 south near Chloe is closed at this hour.
Calhoun EMS has already removed a patient from a residence at Cabot
Station.
A truck washed into a swollen creek near Burning Springs at 8:30 p.m.
Water is rising in Roane County, Spencer's Alvord section and the Town of
Reedy.
The Grantsville VFD answered an electric pole fire on Pine Creek at 12:30
p.m. today at the Bill Finkenbinder residence. The Arnoldsburg VFD
answered an electric pole fire near the Burl Nichols residence on Mount
Zion Ridge at 6:10 p.m.
EDITORS NOTE: Electric service is still out at the Village of Hur and many
back area sections of the county. We are attempting to operate on a
generator.
