WOOD ARMED ROBBERY - Isaac Matthews, 18, of Parkersburg has been charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm and conspiracy to commit armed robbery in connection with an incident Saturday night in Wood County, officials said.
Matthews, along with two juveniles, allegedly drove to 40 Progress Ridge Road in Walker to pick up a juvenile, who is the alleged victim, to hang out, the Wood County Magistrate Court complaint states. According to Wood County Sheriff Steve Stephens, the victim had a personal relationship with at least one or two of the individuals who came to the residence.
The group, including the alleged victim, got in a vehicle and drove a short distance before the crime took place, officials said. The victim alleged that Matthews and the two individuals each presented a firearm and told him to give over his belt, Air Jordan shoes and $400 cash, the complaint states.
After handing over the items, the victim exited the vehicle and the three drove away, the complaint states. The victim contacted the authorities after midnight on Sunday morning.
The crime is believed to have taken place late Saturday evening, the complaint states. Sgt. A.C. Shriver of the Wood County Sheriffâs Department went to that area and recovered items that “indicated that these were in fact the right people involved,” Stephens said.
A portion of the stolen money was recovered, Stephens said.
Matthews and the two juveniles were taken into custody. Matthews is being held at the North Central Regional Jail. Bond had not been set on Monday. |
