Loy Dean Badgett and Connie Jean (Gumm) Badgett are celebrating 50 years of marriage on August 23, 2019.
Loy is the son of Greeley and Maysel Jarvis Badgett Stalnaker of Minnora, WV. After basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, he was stationed at Craig Air Force Base in Selma, AL. While home on leave, he was introduced to Connie by his cousin Randy Jarvis.
Connie was raised in Burnt House, WV by her parents, Forest "Lake" and Phebe Ferguson Gumm and attended Mountain State Business College in Parkersburg, WV.
The two married on August 23, 1969 at Burnt House Methodist Church. They resided in Selma, AL, then Mineral Wells, WV, until moving back to Minnora, WV in 1975. They both retired from Calhoun County Schools in 2010.
They have 2 daughters, Melanie (Jim) Crawford of Williamstown, WV and Malinda (Carlos) Gibson of Huntington, WV. They are loving grandparents of Haylie Westfall and Spencer Westfall of Huntington, WV; Ellen Dillon (Patrick) of Frankford, WV; Cheryl Kincaid (Geoff) of Beckley, WV; Sarah Ferdon (Joel) of NC. They have two great grandsons, Liam Dillon (age 4) and Everett Ferdon (age 2).
