Ray Samuel Perkins, 84, of Spencer, West Virginia, went home to be with our Lord on May 26, 2019 at Roane General Hospital after a brief illness.
He was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Spencer, retired from Constellium Rolled Products in Ravenswood, West Virginia and was a lifelong farmer.
He was born January 2, 1935 in Gay, West Virginia, the son of the late Raymond and Deffie Mae Perkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella Madeline (Midge) Perkins; sisters, Alice Marie Nichols, and Janice Batten; brothers, Larry Elbert and Randal Perkins; brothers-in-law, Simon (Mac) Nichols, Guy W. (Buddy) Batten, Charles Foster Litton, and Richard Conley; sister-in-law, Barbara Conley; and a niece, Kelly Jo Batten.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Epling Perkins; a daughter, Vickie (David) Holland of Spencer; sons, Danny (Christina) Perkins of Sumter, South Carolina, and David (Paula) Perkins, Jeffrey (Wendy) Perkins and Rodney (Ann) Perkins, all of Spencer; step-children, Bob (Brenda) Stickley of Summersville, West Virginia, Brian (Gina) Stickley of Petersburg, Illinois, Linda (Don) Ramsey of Spencer, and James (Kathy) Stickley of White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia; a brother, Ronald Perkins of Gay; sisters, Genevieve Litton and Judy (Leon) Knopp, both of Mineral Wells, West Virginia; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 11 nephews; and 13 nieces.
Service will be at 1:00pm Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, with Pastor Ron Swiney officiating. Burial will follow in the Perkins Addition of the Mt. Herman Cemetery near Harmony, West Virginia. Visiting will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
