This past spring grant cycle, sixty nonprofit organizations in the Mid-Ohio Valley received grant funding from the Sisters Health Foundation in support of its vision of "healthy people in healthy communities". At its most recent meeting, the SHF's Board of Directors approved a total of $627,650 in funding.
Twenty-one organizations that provide direct services, such as food and emergency assistance, received a total of $67,500 from the Basic Needs/Direct Service small grant program.
Thirty-nine organizations received a total of $560,150 in support of their efforts in addressing the health needs of their communities in one of the three priority areas of the Responsive Grants Program -- oral health, healthy equity, and healthy lifestyles.
Calhoun County Committee on Aging, Inc.; Grantsville, WV â $5,000 to support their nutrition program serving senior citizens and veterans in Calhoun County.
Calhoun Family Resource Network; Grantsville, WV â $4,000 to enhance their senior and infant/toddler programs by adding essential products that include hygiene items.
The Wirt County Missional Group LLC; Elizabeth, WV â $4,000 to assist with food pantry costs.
Wirt County Extension; Elizabeth, WV â $1,500 to support the nutrition education programâs food tastings and demonstrations.

Catholic Committee of Appalachia; Spencer, WV â $5,000 to support house improvements and repairs for emergency housing and retreat center for victims of crisis and for marginalized populations.
Wirt County Schools; Elizabeth, WV â $75,000 to support the on-site mental health professional at Wirt County School to address studentsâ behavioral and mental health needs and to foster self-regulation strategies within classrooms.
Healthy Lifestyles Priority Area
Arnoldsburg Elementary; Arnoldsburg, WV â $4,000 to support the renovation of a recreational area for students and the community.
The next due date to submit a full application for the Basic Needs/Direct Service Grants Program, or to submit a letter of inquiry for the Responsive Grants Program is July 10, 2019.
