CALHOUN GRAND JURY INDICTS TWELVE

The Grand Jury of Calhoun County met on May 7, in Calhoun County. Judge Anita Harold Ashley presided. After hearing cases presented by Prosecutor Shannon S. Johnson, the Grand Jury returned the following indictments:

Christopher Sampson, 33 was indicted on one count of Possession with Intent to Deliver and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a Felony; one count of Driving revoked for DUI, a Misdemeanor; one count of No Insurance, a Misdemeanor; and one count of Improper Registration, a Misdemeanor. This case was investigated by Trooper First Class D. C. Moore of the West Virginia State Police.

Grover Lee Knight, 43, was indicted on one count of Attempted Murder, a Felony; one count of Malicious Assault, a Felony; two counts of Burglary, both Felonies; two counts of Assault During the Commission of and Attempt a Felony, both Felonies; two counts of Battery on an Officer, both Misdemeanors; and one count of Obstructing an Officer, a Misdemeanor. This case was investigated by Sgt. C. J. Weekley of the West Virginia State Police.

Dennis Bailey, 25, was indicted on one count of Breaking and Entering, a Felony; one count of Grand Larceny, a Felony; one count of Breaking and Entering of Motor Car, a Misdemeanor; and one count of Transfer of Stolen Goods, a Misdemeanor. Investigated by Grantsville Police Chief Craig Gherke.

Zachary Bell, 21, was indicted on one count of Grand Larceny, a Felony; one count of Fleeing in a Vehicle with Reckless Disregard, a Felony; one count of Fleeing in a Vehicle Causing Property Damage, a Misdemeanor; one count of Fleeing from an Officer by Any Means Other than the Use of a Vehicle, Misdemeanor; one count of Driving while license suspended, a Misdemeanor; one count of Speeding, a Misdemeanor; one count of Failure to Drive Right of Center, a Misdemeanor; and one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Misdemeanor. This case was investigated by Trooper First Class B. E. Young of the West Virginia State Police.

Matthew Freshour, 28, was indicted on one count of Possession with Intent to Deliver and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a Felony; one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Misdemeanor. This case was investigated by Sheriff Jeff Starcher of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department.

Robby Franklin Lamp, 55, and Patty Sampson, 45, were indicted on one count of Possession with Intent to Deliver and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a Felony; one count of Conspiracy, a Felony. This case was investigated by Trooper First Class B. E. Young of the West Virginia State Police.

Darren Parsons, 24, was indicted on one count of Fleeing in a Vehicle with Reckless Disregard, a Felony; one count of Fleeing from an Officer by Any Means Other than the Use of a Vehicle, Misdemeanor; one count of Operating a Vehicle With an Expired Motor Vehicle Inspection Sticker, a Misdemeanor. This case was investigated by Sheriff Jeff Starcher of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department.

Robert Scott Beckett, 36, was indicted on one count of Burglary, a Felony; one count of Petit Larceny, a Misdemeanor; one count of Brandishing a Deadly Weapon, a Misdemeanor. This case was investigated by Sgt. C. J. Weekley of the West Virginia State Police.

Jonathan David McIntyre, 36, was indicted on one count of Failure to Meet an Obligation to Provide Support for a Minor, a Felony. This case was investigated by April Chapman of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Bureau for Child Support Enforcement.

Tara Elizabeth Metz, 35, was indicted on one count of Burglary, a Felony; one count of Destruction of Property, a Misdemeanor; one count of Public Intoxication, a Misdemeanor; and one count of Littering, a Misdemeanor. This case was investigated by Deputy CJ Myers and presented by Sheriff Jeff Starcher of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department.

Jeremy Scott Burrows, 41, was indicted on one count of Receiving or Transferring a Stolen Vehicle, a Felony. This case was investigated by Trooper First Class B. E. Young of the West Virginia State Police.

Seth Wease, 24, was indicted on one count of Grand Larceny, a Felony; two counts of Attempt to Escape from Custody, both Felonies; six counts of Attempt to Commit a Felony, punishable less than life, all Felonies; one count of Driving revoked for DUI, Second Offense, a Misdemeanor; one count of Obstructing an Officer, a Misdemeanor ; one count of Assault on an Officer, a Misdemeanor; one count of Assault, a Misdemeanor; and one count of Fleeing the Scene of an Accident, a Misdemeanor. This case was investigated by Trooper First Class B. E. Young of the West Virginia State Police.

Indictments returned against individuals are merely charges at this time and are not indications of guilt. All the above Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
