| More than a dozen West Virginia counties are part of a flash flood watch issued Saturday by the National Weather Service.
According to meteorologists, a wave a showers of storms will likely move across an area stretching from Huntington to Elkins from late afternoon through the nighttime hours.
“This system has the potential to produce rainfall amounts of 1.00-2.00 inches of rainfall and
localized amounts as high as 2.50 inches within the watch area,” the weather service said.
Flash flooding of small creeks and streams is possible along with flooding in poor drainage areas.
The counties under the watch include: Boone, Braxton, Cabell, Clay, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Mingo, Fayette, Nicholas, Raleigh, Randolph, Webster, Putnam, Upshur, Wayne and Wyoming.
