MAN KILLS TWO - State Police said two people were found shot to death at a residence in Nicholas County, and the suspect was transported for medical treatment after shooting himself in the face.
The bodies of Ilene Blankenship and Douglas P. Hypes were discovered shot to death about 5:10 p.m. Saturday at a home on Twin Oaks Drive, according to news release from West Virginia State Police.
State Police said the man who fired the fatal gunshots and fled the scene was identified as Roger D. Blankenship Sr. He was found at his residence on Route 39 near Swiss. He had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face and was in possession of a loaded firearm, State Police said.
Roger Blankenship was transported for medical treatment. His condition was not immediately available.
State Police said they discovered there is a pending divorce in the case.
POLICE KILL WOMAN? - West Virginia State Police said a female suspect was pronounced dead at the scene in an officer-involved shooting in McDowell County.
The incident happened in Welch.
A State Police spokesman declined to identify the troopers, identify the deceased, state a time and date of the shooting, explain whether the officers are on paid leave, or answer other follow-up questions.
