Calhoun Red Devil Coach Bucky Stewart has been selected as one of two head coaches for the 10th annual BACF (Battle
Against Cystic Fibrosis) Football Classic. The game will be played Friday, June 13 at Parkersburg High School's Stadium
Field beginning at 7 p.m. pitting West Virginia-Ohio teams.
The previous nine games have raised the CF Foundation $115,000 for research into finding a cure for the disease. .
Bucky Stewart has coached since 1965 with his first head grid position being at his alma mater, Sistersville High School in
1969 and 1970. He then headed the Parkersburg Catholic program in 1972 and 1973 with a stint at Braxton County High
School, and later a six-year run (1994-1999) at Woodford County High School in Kentucky, where Stewart got his team
into the state playoffs five of six seasons.
At Calhoun for the last three years, Stewart has posted records of 3-7, 5-5 and 7-3 as the Reds Devils have become a
challenging team. Stewart has an overall head football coaching record of 89-62-1.
Stewart said he is truly honored to coach the event.
Stewart is asking his Red Devil coaching staff to help him, and has also asked former Calhoun native and Ravenswood
coach Dick Sturm for assistance.
Twenty-nine schools will participate in the tourney, 15 in Ohio and 14 in West Virginia: Calhoun County, Doddridge County,
Magnolia, Paden City, Parkersburg, Parkersburg Catholic, Parkersburg South, Ravenswood, Ripley, Ritchie County, St.
Marys, Tyler Consolidated, Williamstown and Wirt County in West Virginia and Beallsville, Belpre, Caldwell, Eastern,
Federal Hocking, Fort Frye, Frontier, Marietta, Meigs, Morgan, Monroe Central, River, Shenandoah, Warren and
Waterford in Ohio.
