Vonna Rae Goodrich Stuart, 74, of Rosedale, WV went home to be with her Heavenly Father on April 16, 2019.
She was born December 19, 1945, the fifth of seven natural children and three adopted children, for a total of ten children, of Raymond Ray Goodrich and Ella Madge Mitchell Goodrich.
She leaves behind her daughter, Teresa Ann Stuart; grandson, Jerome Isaac Stuart; great-grandson, Gavin Isaac Stuart; brother, Verner Gene Goodrich (Goldie) of Rosedale; sisters, Vae Bell Cayton of Vermillion, Ohio; Vivian Zoe Carr, Vada Lorraine Knicely both of Rosedale; Vera Gae Johnson (Jim) of Wilsie; and nieces and nephews, Deanna Lynn Goodrich Miller, Verna Louise Goodrich Frederick (Bobby), and Ricky Lee Goodrich (Helen).
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brother, Van Dudley Goodrich, a beloved nephew, Jamie Ray Knicely; nephew, Michael James Cayton; and niece, Lisa Cayton.
Vonna had been blind since age 16 due to a car accident. She graduated from Romney School for the Deaf and Blind. She could read Braille and communicate through sign language. She helped many others transition from the sighted world to the unsighted. She worked several years as a switchboard operator in Charleston. She was also a concession stand operator at the state capitol in Charleston until she retired after her second car accident. She returned home to her family and friends in Gilmer County. Her smile was contagious. She was much loved by all her family and friends. If love could have saved her, she would still be with us.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc. Visitation will be held Saturday from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Rosedale Community Cemetery.
