WV GAS PRICES JUMPED NINE TO TWELVE CENTS - Some Relief In Sight?

(02/09/2003)
The average price of self-serve unleaded gasoline in West Virginia has jumped nine cents this past week.

The average price of the less expensive self serve is $1.55 a gallon in West Virginia, but in some areas it is $1.58 a gallon. One year ago it was $1.13.

An American Automobile Association spokeswoman Bevi Norris says the increase could be linked to President Bush's talk of war with Iraq in his State of the Union address on January 29th.

Norris says the U.S. oil supply should receive help from Venezuela. since that country has boosted its oil production, emerging from a lengthy strike. Venezuela is the world's fifth-largest oil exporter.
