Rev. John E. Meadows, 77, of Spencer, died Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Roane General Hospital, Spencer, after a long illness.
He was born May 4, 1941 at Clendenin, the son of the late Jack and Myrtle Nida Meadows.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Ivy Cox and Emmie Payne; brothers, Larry Meadows and Gay Ashley.
John was a retired employee of Moore's Lumber Company, Charleston.
Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Linda Meadows; son, Eddie (Ann) Meadows; daughter, Tammy Cottrell; grandson, Alex Cottrell; granddaughters, Janett Meadows, Amanda Meadows, Emily Boyce and Leslie Boyce; brothers, Jack (Cathy) Meadows and James (Charlotte) Meadows; sisters, Wanda (Clifford) Payne and Violet (Charles) Deems; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 17 at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Keith Monday officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.
The visitation will be one hour before the service.
