Evelyn Doris Bissell Starcher, of Clover, West Virginia, born March 22, 1931 in Otto, West Virginia died February 28, 2019 at the age of 87.
She was the daughter of Otha and Ruby McMillan Bissell who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Luther Alden Bissell and two sisters, Edith Bissell Wallbrown and Maxine Bissell Brown.
Evelyn was a 1949 graduate of Spencer High School where she was selected for Allstate Choir for three years. She was employed by the Roane County Board of Education for three years, two years as a Secretary at Spencer Grade School and one year as a cook at the Clover Grade School. She later was employed as a Secretary at the Clover Public Service District where she retired in 2000 after 15 years of service working with the late Wheeler Hall and the Clover Public Service District Board of Directors.
She was married to the late Billy M. Starcher for 36 years. Evelyn was a member of the Otto Advent Christian Church since 1942 and attended the St. John's United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for several years. She was dedicated to her family and enjoyed working with family pictures and was a member of the Roane County Historical Society.
She is survived by three sons, Scott, Randy and Mark Starcher, all of Clover; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer, West Virginia with Rev. Danny Whited officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery. Visiting hours will be three hours prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
