| Donald G. Conley, 72, of Newton, died Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at home, after an extended illness.
He was born September 11, 1946 at Uler, Roane County, the son of the late Howard and Locie Miller Conley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brandon McGlothlin; sisters, Gladys Pathfinder and Loretta Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Conley; sons, Howard Conley at home, Troy (Tonya) Conley of Elkview and Todd (Coburn) Conley of Newton; granddaughter, Shelby Conley of Newton, grandson, Dustin (Jessica) Carnefix of Elkview; special niece, Laci Williams; great grandsons, Braxton and Levi; sisters, Pat (Rex) Jarvis of Cleveland, Ohio and Becky (Dale) Rogers of Massillon, Ohio; brother, Homer (Pat) Conley of Newton; special brothers-in-law, Kellis (Angela) McGlothlin of Clover, Dow McGlothlin of Looneyville; mother and father-in-law, Loretta and Romie "Mike" McGlothlin.
Donald was a retired member of the United Steel Workers Union, Local 14614, Charleston and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He loved the outdoors, taking care of his animals and working on the farm. Donald enjoyed sitting on the porch with his family and friends, drinking coffee and telling stories.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. David McLaughlin officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Farm Family Cemetery, Newton.
The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 22 at the funeral home.
