Thelma Poling, 98, of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, formerly of Parkersburg and Mount
Zion, West Virginia, died February 6, 2003 at the Country Club Retirement
Center in Mount Vernon.
Mrs. Poling was born January 9, 1905 at Reedy, Roane County, WV, the
daughter of the late Dan and Hannah Wells Connolly. She had been a
resident of Mt. Zion and Parkersburg for many years before moving to Mt.
Vernon in 1998. She was a longtime member of the Mt. Zion United
Methodist Church.
Surviving, daughters, Loretta Godfrey and her husband Ron of Mount
Vernon, Sherra Nell Ferrell and her husband Michael of Parkersburg, and
Bonel Zakarian and her husband Charles of Chester, Maryland. Seven
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Poling, four sisters and
three brothers.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Stump Funeral Home
in Grantsville, WV by the Rev. Rick Swearingen. Interment will be in the Mt.
Zion Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 noon Sunday
until the hour of service.
