At a recent meeting of the West Central Beekeepers Association, Shawna Rhodes from the USDA presented the USDA ELAP [Emergency Assistance for Livestock program] as it pertains to Honey Bees and bee hives to members of the WCBA.
The ELAP program will reimburse bee farmers for certain weather and other losses to bees, hives, and bee food. To be eligible for next year, participants must register with the USDA by January 2, 2019. Farmers must report any qualified losses within 30 days.
