The older model white Oldsmobile went over the southern edge of the road and down an embankment, coming to rest
against a large tree, said Sgt. L.J. Peck of the Wirt County Sheriff's Department. The cause of the accident is under
investigation. It was reporeted that sections of the road in the area were icey.
The other occupants were transported to Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital by the Wirt County Emergency Squad.
The driver was reported to be in serious condition and two other passengers suffered minor injuries. Wirt County Sheriff's
Department declined to release the names and ages of those involved pending notification of family.
Emergency crews did not leave the scene until about 7 p.m.
"Elizabeth and Wirt County emergency crews did an excellent job in the cold climate we were dealing with this evening,"
Peck said.
