Glen V. Fowler, formerly of Grantsville, WV went home to be with the Lord early Saturday morning, September 29, 2018 at
Brookdale Senior Living Facility in Marietta, Ohio with his loving wife by his side.
Glen was a life long resident of Grantsville, the son
of Levi Franklin and Elfie Barr Fowler.
Glen was a graduate of Calhoun County High School with the class of 1944, he attended Bethany College. He then enlisted in the United States Navy
and served during the WW11 in the Pacific as a naval aviator. After the war, he returned to Grantsville and married his sweetheart Dorothy D. Dye Fowler.
Glen began working in the Calhoun County Bank as a janitor, and then worked his way up to president and then CEO of Calhoun Banks. He retired in 1988 and remained the acting CEO until 2015.
Glen enjoyed golfing with friends and photography, and spending time with his family. Glen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Granstville where he served as deacon and enjoyed singing in the choir.
Glen is survived by his wife of 72 years Dorothy Dye Fowler of Marietta, Ohio; one son Terry Lee Fowler and wife Sandy of Annamoriah, WV; one daughter Joyce Christine Baloy and husband Fred Baloy of Pomeroy, Ohio. He had four grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren; sisters. Madaline Moore and Imogene Hoskins and Oleva Gainer; one brother Foster Fowler.
He was preceded in death by siblings Velma McEndree, Geraldine Wallace, Edward Fowler, Durward Fowler, Victor Fowler, and Dale Fowler; and one grandson Levi James Fowler.
Glen chose to donate his body to the Human Gift Registry of WVU. A Memorial/Celebration service will be held Saturday, October 13th at the Brooksville Baptist Church in Big Bend WV at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The First Baptist Church in Grantsville, WV in Glen's memory.
