West Virginia's fire season goes into effect Monday, as do fall burning laws.
Beginning Monday, Oct. 1, no burning is allowed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the end of the year.
Any fires burning during permitted times must be attended at all times, and if the fire escapes, you are liable for the costs of fighting the fire and any damage the fire may cause.
The maximum fine for violating burning laws is $1,000.
