Scott Duane McHenry, 67 of Indian Fork Road, Orlando, WV (Gilmer County) departed this life unexpectedly, yet peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at his residence following a short illness.
Scott was born February 20, 1951 in Braxton County, WV and is preceded in death by his father, Rolland McHenry in 1991, his mother, Henrietta Youmans McHenry Thomas in 2006, and his step-father, Bill Thomas in 2017.
Scott was a graduate of Gilmer County High School, class of 1969. He attended Glenville State College before joining the United States Air Force. He later attended WVU College of Law. Scott loved reading, writing, and baseball, not necessarily in that order. He also loved communicating with his friends by phone or Facebook, and he can be found on Youtube doing spoken pieces.
Scott is survived by his daughter, Caley Redd Stroud, 1 brother, Ricky McHenry of Indian Fork, and 3 sisters, Karen Teets of Horse Shoe Run, WV (Preston County), Abigail Arnold of Canby, Oregon, and Lisa McHenry of Perryville, Maryland.
Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc. 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV at 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 22, 2018 with Rev. Bill Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Locust Knob Cemetery at the top of Sliding Run Road. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Friday evening at the mortuary in Glenville.
