2018 Molasses Festival Parade Marshall - Charles Thomas
Charles Thomas has been chosen as the 2018 Molasses Festival
Parade Marshall. He has been the principal at Arnoldsburg Elementary
for the past three years. Mr Thomas came to the county in 1985, as a
teacher at Minnora Elementary School. He began his teaching career
instructing math to fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh grades at Minnora.
He was transferred to Arnoldsburg Elementary during the consolidation
of Arnoldsburg and Minnora. During his career, he has taught math,
third grade, first grade, and was the Academic Coach and Program
Coordinator for Save the Children.
Mr. Thomas is married to Earlene Crawford Thomas, daughter of the
late Earl and Beulah Crawford, formerly of Grantsville. Together they
have five children, Emily (Jacob) Wagoner of Morgantown; Dana
(Juston) Ferrell of Chloe; Joseph Thomas of Fairmont; Bryan and Travis
Thomas of Chloe. They have three grandchildren, Melanie Ferrell of
Chloe and Lorelei and Paul Wagoner of Morgantown.
Mr. Thomas is the son of Joseph and Melanie Thomas of Bridgeport. He
resides at Chloe in a home that he and his father built. He has been
very involved in the community since moving to Calhoun, while
establishing the West Fork Mountaineers 4-H Club many years ago to
presently being the Scout Master of Arnoldsburg Boy Scout Troop 430.
He was instrumental in developing the greenhouse project at
Arnoldsburg Elementary and assisting the Community Liaison
Coordinator with community gardens project. He is a member of the
Word of Faith Fellowship Church in Spencer. |
