Clista Wiladene Harper, 93, of Walton, passed away September 5, 2018, at her home.
She was born October 17, 1924 on Green Creek near Walton, the daughter of the late Harley Howard and Susan Arilla Anderson Harris.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Harper, in 2005; grandson, Christopher Charles Harper; sisters, Marjorie Oleta Harris, Irene Elizabeth Jarvis and Gweldalene Meredith Jessie; brothers, Elmer Lee Harris and Delmer Leon Harris.
Mrs. Harper was a retired employee of the Roane County Board of Education. She helped her husband operate the Walton Gulf Service. Her hobbies included sewing and flower gardening. She was a 1942 graduate of Walton High School and attended the Walton Union Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Carlene Board of Summersville; sons, Jerry Harper of Dublin, Va. and Gary Harper of Walton; sisters, Loretta Dodd of Ravenswood and Marlene Neal of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; six grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 9 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Walton.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
