A Clay County lawmaker was approved by the West Virginia House of Delegates as its new speaker.
House members on Wednesday chose Del. Roger Hanshaw, R-Clay, as the new speaker by a vote of 62-34.
Hanshaw replaces Tim Armstead, who resigned previously as speaker and as a delegate from Kanawha County to run for West Virginia Supreme Court.
