Ava Dawn (Patty) Mitchell, 76, of Arnoldsburg, WV passed away at home with family present. On June 30, 2018.
She was born on July 8, 1941 at Sand Ridge, WV, the daughter of the late Roy and Ava (Powell) Bush.
She was a 1959 graduate of Calhoun County High School. She worked as a Para-professional at Arnoldsburg Elementary School where she loved working with the children. She retired from there in 2001 after 29 years of service. Her co-workers were like a second family.
She enjoyed bowling and softball, but her favorite passion was going to yard sales.
She loved her family and friends above everything else.
She is survived by her husband Bubby Dean Mitchell; 2 daughters, Tina Helton of Knoxville, TN and Jill Skaggs (Joe) of Arnoldsburg, WV; grandsons, Berry Irwin and Mitchell Irwin of Knoxville, TN and Michael Skaggs (Shannon) of Elkridge, MD.
She is preceded in death by her half-brothers Allen King, Pete Bush and Russell Bush and half-sisters Juanita King, Eula Short, Pauline Butcher, Lucille Vannoy, and Ruby Skidmore.
A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Arnoldsburg, WV on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
with Rev. Rick Metheney officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Interment will be in Sand Ridge Cemetery.
