Virginia Elenor McCartney, 74, of Avon, Ohio, formerly of Parkersburg, died January
13, 2003 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Westlake, Ohio.
She was the daughter of the late Charles and Sarah Ellen Kelly Curry. She was a
member of the Lauckport Baptist Church of Parkersburg. She generously
volunteered her love and time tending to the needs of others.
She is survived by her husband Carl McCartney of Marietta, Ohio;
daughter, Ellen Ponusky of Avon, Ohio; brother, Harry Curry of Mount Zion, WV; sister,
Ida Calhoun of Grantsville; two grandchildren, Laura and Glenn Ponusky both of
Avon.
She was preceded in death by her second husband, Russell Swisher, five brothers
and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville on Saturday,
January 18 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dobbie Thrash officiating. Interment in the
Swisher Cemetery in Cisco.
Visitation Friday evening 6-8 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at the Lauckport Baptist Church at 2 p.m.
Sunday.
