Oral Ray Carper, 83, of Amma, West Virginia, died Monday, January 13, 2003, in CAMC
Memorial Hospital, Charleston.
He was born February 14, 1919, at Kester, Roane County, a son of the late Riley Monroe and
Mary Janet Gandee Carper. He was a retired employee of Goodyear Aerospace, Akron, Ohio.
He was an Army Veteran of World War II.
Survivors include four daughters, Karen Lemmon of Canton, Ohio, Sharon Abbott of Tariff,
WV, Angie Abbott of Amma and April Payne of Clendenin, WV; one son, Bobby Carper of
Orlando, Florida; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Irene Price Carper; two
sons, Billy Ray Carper and Charles Michael Carper, three grandchildren, Shelly Kensinger,
Bobby Carper, Jr. and Sheila Carper; two brothers, Ralph and Bradford; four sisters, Forrest,
Glada, Hestel and Mary Rose.
A funeral service will be conducted, Thursday, January 16, at 1 p.m. in the John H. Taylor
Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Michael F. "Mike" King officiating. Burial will be in
Amma Cemetery, Amma.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday.
