WILD SHOOTING - The father of a slain 26-year-old woman is accused of shooting at the property of the mother, wife and public defender of the man charged in the killing.
The Herald-Dispatch reports that 63-year-old Gregory Allen Adkins was arrested Thursday. Cabell County Sheriff Chuck Zerkle says Adkins is the father of Kayla Adkins, who was found dead behind an abandoned barn in 2016.
The suspect in her death, 26-year-old Corey Seth Chapman, has been jailed since November 2016. According to criminal complaints, Adkins fired two shots at public defender Ralph Booten's car on Monday, and then drove to the home of Betti and Vanessa Chapman, where he fired five shots.
No one was injured.
Adkins is charged with six counts of wanton endangerment. It's unclear whether he has a lawyer.
