PUTNAM MAN SHOT - A shooting in Putnam County is under investigation after a man was shot in the chest, Sheriff Steve Deweese said.
The incident happened Monday at a home in the 100 block of Cambridge Drive off Thompson Road in the Imperial Estates subdivision in the Culloden area.
Deweese said a man and woman were inside the residence, and another man and woman were outside. The man outside entered the home and was shot by the man inside. Deweese said there were signs of forced entry into the residence.
The woman outside the home transported to the man who was shot to the Hurricane Volunteer Fire Department, and he was then taken by ambulance to a hospital in Huntington. No condition was available.
The sheriff said the shooting could have been in self-defense, but the investigation is still under way and the cause has not been determined.
Investigators were waiting on a search warrant so they could gather evidence.
Deweese said the man and woman who were inside the residence remained on the scene and are cooperating with law enforcement.
West Virginia Virginia State Police and Putnam County deputies responded.
