A Calhoun man has been released from Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, to continue his recovery at home on
Russett Road. Gene Little was injured December 3 near Smithville, Ritchie County, when a gas meter blew up in his face,
critically injuring him.
Family members said Little has made a remarkable recovery, after suffering severe injuries to his face and head.
Little, an employee of Creston Oil and Gas of Grantsville, received extensive reconstructive surgery with most of his facial
bones shattered.
"He was shopping in Wal-Mart last night," said the family member. "He is a miracle."
"The hospital worked wonders for him," they said.
A fire completely destroyed the home of Little's mother a few days before his accident. Geraldine Little and two other sons
lost all their belongings in the blaze, which also destroyed the home of Linda Sampson, the dwellings are located on Sinking
Springs Road near Route 16 at Mount Zion. Mrs. Little is scheduled to get a new modular home this coming week.
"That was not a good week for the Little family," said the spokesperson.
