Key Energy Services Inc., the world's largest oil and gas production-services company, is bringing its' eastern division office
to Charleston.
Key Energy has hired four local employees, including a financial controller and a safety director, and might add more in the
future at the Charleston office.
Key Energy has about 140 employees in the state working at sites at Arnoldsburg in Calhoun County, and in Dunbar and
Buckhannon.
"We felt that, with the amount of work we are doing in the Appalachia Basin, that Charleston would be a good operations
point for the future," a company spokesperson said.
Previously, Key Energy ran a division in Michigan.
Key has grown from 29 well service rigs in Texas in 1988 to more than 2,000 rigs worldwide, diversifying into a wide range
of other oilfield services. It is now the largest land-based services company in the country, with more than 8,000 employees
and annual revenues of one billion dollars.
The firm has operations throughout the United States, in addition to Egypt, Canada and Argentina.
