Sharon Kay Carper of Parkersburg, WV formerly of Amma, Roane
County is a Shining Star.
She took up photography as a hobby a few years back. Sharon has
had some success with her photos and has won several contests and
has even sold the rights to some of her photos. She was recently on
the Gary Bowden Radio Show where she was interviewed for her
success.
Sharon entered the Black Walnut Festival's photo contest in 2012 and won
first place for her photo of a black and blue butterfly on chrysanthemums. Since then, her
photos have made it as June's cover photo in the 2018 WV Roadsides in Bloom calendar.
She took the photo of the Yellow Swallowtail Butterfly in Roane County. She's also had
photos in the 2016 calendar as well. Spotlight WV Magazine chose one of her photos of a red
fox from the French Creek Game Reserve as their cover photo too.
Sharon entered the
#comehometoWV photo contest as was the grand prize winner with a photo she calls "The
Fisherman's Tale." The photo was taken at Point Park in Parkersburg.
Sharon is an animal and nature lover. Many times, she's out on her scooter with her
beloved dog Libby who's featured in many of her photos along with birds and other animals
that peak her interests.
Sharon has sold rights to Pier 1 Imports and also Wild Birds Unlimited.
