| Dorothy Roberts Via, 93, of Elizabeth, passed away on January 30, 2018, at her home. She was born in the Owl Hill area of Wirt County, the eldest child of Lewis E. and Elva Roberts.
She was a true "Rosie the Riveter" during WW II, she moved to Parkersburg to work at the "Shovel Plant." In years following did housekeeping work for many area families. She was a kind and gentle person who loved God, her family, and her country.
She read and studied her Bible regularly. She attended the Elizabeth Church of the Nazarene. She loved spending time with her friends at the Wirt County Senior Center. She had a beautiful smile, and a joyous laugh. She was loved dearly by her family and friends and many in the community.
Dorothy is survived by brothers Bruce Roberts and Darrell Roberts, of Elizabeth, and sister Vesta Ruth Bunner of Vienna, as well as several nieces and nephews, and her beloved parakeet, Jimmy. She was preceded in death by sisters, Wanda Mae Belt and Luanna McCray, and most recently by her brother, Larry Roberts. Three infant brothers also preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, February 3, at Matheny Whited Funeral Home in Elizabeth. Visitation will be from 1-3pm prior to the service.
