The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) says applications for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) will be accepted starting, January 29, until Friday, February 2, or until funds are exhausted.
The federally funded LIEAP assists eligible West Virginia residents in paying their home heating bills.
Eligibility for LIEAP benefits is based on monthly household gross income, household size, and whether or not the household is responsible for paying its home heating bill.
Monthly household gross income must be at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty level for the household size.
In situations where a heating emergency exists, applicants must be seen by a WV DHHR office worker in their county of residence.
Applications for LIEAP must be received by DHHR or postmarked by February 2, 2018. Any LIEAP applications received after this date will not be approved.
