| PARKERSBURG BANK HEIST - Parkersburg Police chief Joe Martin says officers have arrested a man who confessed to robbing a Parkersburg bank on Tuesday.
At 11:59 A.M. Tuesday, Parkersburg Police responded to an armed bank robbery call at the Williamstown Bank branch on 7th Street in downtown Parkersburg.
Martin says the suspect, whose name has not yet been released, confessed to the robbery after he was captured at 12:35 P.M. Tuesday, following a short police chase.
Bank staff told investigators that the suspect said he had a weapon and demanded money, but never showed a weapon to them.
Officers did not find a weapon on the suspect or in his vehicle when they arrested him.
Martin says the suspect told detectives he hid the money after the robbery, and officers are working to find that money.
MAN CARRIES GUN ON PLANE - Yeager Airport's police chief says a man was cited Tuesday for having a pistol in his carry-on bag.
The weapon was in a side zipper bag of a piece of luggage.
This is the first time in 2018 that a gun was found at Yeager. A dozen or more passengers were cited last year in West Virginia carrying guns onto a plane, a large increase with the expansion of gun carry laws in the Mountain State.
MAN SHOT IN HOME INVASION - A man was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound after a home invasion early Tuesday in South Charleston.
Julius Carter, 34 of South Charleston was transported to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries from a gunshot wound to the arm.
The home invasion occurred at an apartment in the 500 block of E Street just after midnight Tuesday.
South Charleston police said Carter, who lived at the residence, told them at least two unknown black males broke through the front door of the residence for unknown reasons.
Once inside, one of the suspects fired a shot from a gun, striking Carter in the arm, police said. Carter and another witness reported several more shots being fired before the suspects fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction, according to a news release from the South Charleston Police Department.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
THREE CHARGED IN SEPARATE MURDERS IN TAYLOR CO. - A Taylor County grand jury has indicted three people on murder charges during the January 2018 term of court.
John Hess was indicted on a murder charge in the death of his wife, Abigail Hess. Taylor County deputies said John Hess shot Abigail Hess on New Year's Eve at their home in Flemington.
A man and woman also face indictments in Taylor County after a deadly shooting.
Justin Clark is charged with murder, wanton endangerment and child neglect charges in the June death of Frank Newbraugh, 39. Deputies said Clark shot Newbraugh near the Taylor County Animal Shelter.
Samantha Dakon-Clark is also indicted on a murder charge and child neglect creating risk of injury charges for her alleged role in Newbraugh's death. Deputies said Dakon-Clark had her four children present when the shooting happened inside a car and that she was helping Newbraugh get drugs.
