The 2017 America's Health Rankings Annual Report ranks
West Virginia in the bottom five states with Mississippi, No. 50: Louisiana, No. 49; Arkansas, No. 48; and Alabama, No. 47.
The states ranked as the healthiest are Massachusetts, No. 1; Hawaii, No. 2; Vermont, No. 3; Utah, No. 4; and Connecticut, No. 5.
The study used 35 core measures for evaluation.
West Virginia ranked 48th in child poverty and 41st in physical inactivity.
