Operation Happy Thanksgiving" will proceed as in past years with the CCCOA taking requests for food delivery and also organizing volunteers, the Salvation Army having to discontinue their participation because of funding, huge resources being sent to the 2017 disasters.
Food is being graciously provided by the Calhoun County Board of Education, as coordinated by Christopher Melonas, Wirt and Calhoun County Schools Child Nutrition Director.
Orders for the meal delivery will be accepted the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving (November 20 & 21) by calling CCCOA at 304.354.7017 between the hours of 7:30am and 3:30pm.
Meals will be delivered WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 22, and on-site dining and take-out will likewise be on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 22 at the Calhoun Middle-High School.
Volunteers will be needed Tuesday afternoon/evening (specific times to be determined) to pre-prep the food for an estimated 500 meals at the Calhoun Middle-High School kitchen.
Volunteers are also needed for final food prep Wednesday morning, for home delivery Wednesday morning, for food service at the school cafeteria Wednesday from 11am - 1pm, and for clean-up afterward.
Anyone interested in volunteering, please contact CCCOA at 304.354.7017 or at office@cccoa-wv.org.
CCCOA Director Rick Poling says a very special thanks to Dan Sillaman and his Cub Scouts, and to the Calhoun County School System for stepping up to help continue the CCCOA and community's tradition of serving Thanksgiving meals.
