A line of people stretched outside the Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home in Clay on Friday, nearly a week after a mother was gunned down in her Wallback-area home.
More than 100 heavy-hearted men and women filled the brick building, located atop a hill near Main Street. They gathered to mourn the death of Jody Lee Thomas, 41.
"She took my heart with her," said David Lanham, 65. He is the father of Thomas' two children: Sydney Lanham, 21, and Austin Lanham, 20.
