2017 - One of the last great old-time Calhoun farmers, Darrell Shock, 86, has died, suffering critical injuries in a vehicle crash not far from his home just off Rush Run (Apple Farm)on September 22.
Shock was firmly connected to the land of his ancestors, tilling, growing and harvesting, while being a mainstay at the Rush Run Baptist Church.
A real gentleman, he loved to tell stories about his life and times, frequently used in Hur Herald stories.
