Fire struck an unoccupied Henry's Fork house Thursday night, the destruction was discovered by a passerby Friday morning about 8 p.m., according to Calhoun Sheriff Jeff Starcher.
Because the fire was not noticed, the fire department was not called.
The modular dwelling belonging to Jerry Smith was a total loss. Smith had reportedly moved to NC a few weeks ago.
The house was located near the intersection of Henry's Fork and Altizer Road.
The State Fire Marshal was called to investigate the scene, said Sheriff Starcher.
