Update 6/13/2017 - William Michael Lamb, 47, is facing two counts of attempted murder, following shooting at his wife while driving on Rt. 16 near Smith.
Lamb waived his preliminary hearing Monday in Ritchie County Magistrate Court, and his case will go before a grand jury.
Police say on June 2, Lamb waited in the woods with a rifle on Route 16 in Ritchie County and shot his wife, Vickie Lamb, in the back while she was driving her car along between Harrisville and Smithville.
Vickie Lamb was flown to a Morgantown hospital, where she was treated and released several days after the shooting.
Investigators say Lamb told them he also fired a shot from the same location on June 1. That bullet struck his wife's vehicle, but did not hurt her.
Lamb remains in the North Central Regional Jail on $500,000 bond.

Update 6/8/2017 - Ritchie woman Vickie Lamb has been released from a hospital after being shot in the back by her husband, while driving on Rt. 16 near Smithville.
William Michael Lamb, 47, is facing two charges of attempted murder, authorities saying he has confessed to the crime.
Lamb attempted to shoot his wife on a previous day, failing to hit her.
Vickie Lamb was released from a Morgantown hospital Wednesday.

A woman shot in Ritchie County last week has been released from the hospital.
The West Virginia State Police says Vickie Lamb was released from the hospital on Wednesday. She was taken by helicopter to a Morgantown hospital after the shooting.
Authorities have charged her husband, William Michael Lamb, with two counts of attempted murder. They say he waited in the woods and then fired a rifle shot that his wife in the back while she was driving along Route 16 between Harrisville and Smithville on June 2.
Authorities also say he fired a shot from the same location that struck his wife's vehicle on June 1.
Lamb is being held at the North Central Regional Jail on a $500,000 bond
6/06/17 - A Ritchie County man, William Michael Lamb, 47, of Smithville, tried twice in separate days to shoot his wife, Vickie, while she was driving on West Virginia Route 16 near Smithville.
Police say he has confessed.
The complaint indicates he secluded himself along Rt. 16 with a 7-millamter Ruger rifle.
The criminal complaint filed in Ritchie County Magistrate Court is for two attempted murders.
The day before Vickie Lamb was wounded on Rt. 16, the complaint says, William Lamb tried unsuccessfully to shoot her from the same location.
On the second attempt, the bullet entered the trunk of his wife's vehicle, went through the back driver's side passenger seat, and then through the back of the driver's seat, striking Mrs. Lamb in the back.
Information has not been released regarding her condition.

The bond for William Michael Lamb was set at $500,000. He is currently being held at the North Central Regional Jail.
There is no word on the condition of Vickie Lamb.

Update 6/3/2017 - The husband of a Ritchie County woman shot driving her car on Rt. 16 has been charged with attempted murder.
William Michael Lamb has been charged with shooting his wife Vickie Lambs.
The Ritchie County Prosecuting Attorney's Office issued the following statement:
"To ease the minds of its citizens, Ritchie County Law Enforcement would like to inform the public William Michael Lamb has been arrested for the shooting of his wife, Vickie Lamb. Mr. Lamb is being charged with two counts of attempted murder based upon, among other evidence, his confession."
There was no word on Vickie Lamb's condition at a Morgantown hospital.
Update 6/2/2017 - A woman was shot in her back while driving on Route 16 in Ritchie County Friday morning, according to Ritchie County Prosecuting Attorney Samuel Rogers, II.
Law enforcement received a call at 10 a.m. in reference to gunshots fired, Rogers said.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed that Vickie Lamb was shot in the back while driving northbound on Route 16 near the community of Mahone, a short distance from Smithville.
Lamb was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital, and there is no word on her condition at this time.
The incident is still under investigation, and no arrests have been made, Rogers said.
Original 6/2/17 -One person was flown to the hospital after an apparent shooting south of Harrisville in Ritchie County Friday morning, according to Doddridge County 911.
The victims condition is unknown and no one is yet in custody.
According to firefighters, Route 16 south of Harrisville was shut down for about two and a half miles in connection with the investigation.
