Leah B. Sturm, 92, of Millsboro, Delaware, formerly of Mt. Zion, WV,
departed this life at 10:15 a.m. December 25, 2002, following a brief
illness.
She was born June 9, 1910, the daughter of the late Howard and Arminda
Anderson Brannon. On June 10, 1932, she married Otho E. Sturm, who
preceded her in death on June 24, 1981. Mrs. Sturm was a homemaker and
taught in a one-room school in Calhoun County in the early '30s. She was a
member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Mt. Zion, and was very active
in community affairs.
She is survived by three daughters, Joan Gherke (Eugene) of Millsboro, Del.;
Carolyn Hatfield (Bill) of Georgetown, Del., and Debbie Moore (Glenn) of
Millsboro, Del.; one son, Richard B. (Carolyn) of Weston; eight grandchildren,
Lisa Groves of Millsboro, Del., Pam Ware (Denver) of French Creek, W.Va.,
Steve Gherke (Judy) of Millsboro, Del., Craig Sturm of Weston, Jeff Hatfield
(Lisa) of Millsboro, Carrie Morton (Bryan) of Herndon, Va., Clint Moore
(Jeanine) of Millsboro, Del., and Mindi Moore of Millsboro, Del.; eight
great-grandchildren, Josie Buch (Larry) of Jane Lew, W.Va, Thomas Guy of
Millsboro, Del., Caitlyn and Erica Sturm of Weston, Casie and Brynna Morton of
Herndon, Va., Megan Gherke of Millsboro, Del., and Kaylin Hatfield of
Millsboro, Del.; one sister, Birdie (Bood) Haugh of Florida; and one brother,
Lenna H. Brannon of Texas; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Eula Larrison.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, WV.
Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Friends and family may call beginning
9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
